AmerenCIPS and Southeastern Illinois Electric Cooperative provide electrical service to most of Williamson County, with AmerenCIPS also serving as the  natural gas provider. Ameren's electrical rates are competitive. Water and sewer utilities are provided by various local communities, although 300,000 people in seven surrounding counties and 60 municipalities use water treated and provided by the Rend Lake Inter-City Water District. (Rend Lake Conservancy District)
