Although it is the most heavily populated county in deep southern Illinois, Williamson County is still a relatively small county at just over 67,000 citizens. It is, however, the fastest growing county in Illinois outside the Chicago “collar counties” and the counties in the Metro-East area near St. Louis, Mo.
